ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team welcomed Hardin-Simmons University on Friday night for a non-conference matchup, falling to the Cowgirls 75-50.
Hardin-Simmons set the tone early, jumping out to a quick lead in the opening quarter and maintaining control throughout. The Bulldogs found a spark late in the first, trimming the deficit to 15-10 by the end of the period. The Cowgirls responded in the second quarter with a strong run of their own, extending their advantage and sending Adrian into the locker room trailing 42-26 at halftime.
The second half followed a similar script, as the Bulldogs worked to chip away at the deficit. Each time Adrian found the bottom of the net, however, Hardin-Simmons answered on the other end to keep momentum firmly in its favor. The Cowgirls managed the clock down the stretch and secured the 75-50 non-conference victory.
Adrian shot 39 percent from the field and an efficient 50 percent from beyond the arc, while converting 2-of-5 attempts at the free-throw line.
Sophia Bussell led the Bulldogs with 18 points, adding two rebounds and a steal.
Hannah Lisch contributed eight points, four rebounds, and six assists with one steal.
Aubrie Ickes paced the team on the glass with eight rebounds, while adding six points, one block, one steal, and one assist.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, February 18 where they will host The University of Olivet for Senior Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
