ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team traveled to Trine University on Friday night for the start of a home-and-home series with the Thunder to end the regular season. The No. 10 ranked Bulldogs held a one-point lead in the NCHA Standings entering the weekend and need a sweep over Trine to lock up the NCHA Regular Season Championship. Adrian went on to light up the scoreboard and blowout Trine, 10-0.
Adrian came out scoring by netting five goals in the first period.
Emma Simon started the scoring 35 seconds into the game followed by goals from
Maddy Loe,
Riley Johnson, and
Elizabeth Sturgeon. At the end of the period, Johnson scored her second goal of the game on the power play to lead 5-0. In the second period, Adrian made it 8-0 with the help of Loe's and Sturgeon's second goals of the game while
Courtney Ben added a goal. In the third period, Ben scored her second goal of the game while
Paige Pomerleau finished the Adrian scoring with a goal to win 10-0.
Adrian finished the game with four scorers finishing with a pair of goals. Johnson added three assists while Ben and
Parker Beyer finished with two.
Kiera Stack started in goal for Adrian where she finished the game four saves.
Erin Judge went in later in the game and collected 18 saves.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow at 12:00 PM when they will conclude the regular season and look to claim the NCHA Regular Season Championship. Prior to tomorrow afternoon's game, the Bulldogs will honor its Senior Class with a ceremony before warm ups starting at 11:00 AM.
