Women's Lacrosse Erupt for 20 Goals in Dominant Win Over MSOE

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's lacrosse team continued its strong start to the season Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 20-3 victory over MSOE inside the Sweebe Indoor Center. 

Adrian improves to 2-0 on the year with the win after a dominant possession game to overwhelm the Raiders.

After surrendering the game's first goal, the Bulldogs responded immediately. Mariana Miller evened the score just 15 seconds later, sparking a five-goal first quarter. Kacie Woodall scored three times in the opening frame, including a pair of man-down goals, as Adrian built a 5-1 lead after one.

The Bulldogs broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring MSOE 7-1. Woodall and Madeline Turcotte continued to lead the charge, while Jenna Allie and Miller added to the tally. Adrian capitalized on multiple free-position and man-up opportunities during the stretch to take a commanding 12-2 advantage into halftime.

Adrian's momentum carried into the third quarter with seven more goals. Turcotte found the back of the cage twice in the period, while Sarah Gross, Raynah Lanigan, Woodall, Miller, and Allie all contributed. The Bulldogs held MSOE scoreless in the third, extending the lead to 19-2 entering the final frame.

Gross added her second goal of the afternoon in the fourth before MSOE scored late to account for the 20-3 final.

Woodall paced the offense with six goals and one assist, while Turcotte finished with five goals and three assists. Miller recorded three goals and one assist, and Allie added three goals of her own. Gross chipped in two goals, and Lanigan added one.

Adrian controlled the stat sheet, outshooting MSOE 34-14 and holding a 30-15 edge in ground balls. The Bulldogs also dominated the draw circle with a 16-7 advantage, led by Turcotte and Woodall.

In goal, Bella Norton earned the win with four saves in the opening 20 minutes. Chloe Martin and Emerysn Alberts combined for five saves in relief to close out the contest.

The Bulldog women's lacrosse team will be back in action Saturday as they take a trip down to Lake Wales, Flordia for spring break. They will face New College of Florida Saturday, opening draw set for 1:00 PM.
