ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team completed its quarterfinal sweep of Trine University on Saturday night in the NCHA Slaats Cup, earning a 6-1 victory behind a hat trick from Courtney Ben.
Ben opened the scoring early in the first period to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Paige Pomerleau added another goal later in the period, sending Adrian into the first intermission ahead 2-0.
In the second, Hannah Markovich found the back of the net before Trine scored its lone goal of the weekend. Hunter Reardon extended the lead early in the third period, and Ben capped the night with her second and third goals of the game to secure the 6-1 win.
Markovich added an assist to her goal, while Riley Johnson, Emma Simon, and Ava Mattaliano each recorded two assists. Kiera Stack made the start in net and finished with 21 saves, including 11 in the third period.
The No. 1-seeded Bulldogs return to home ice Saturday, February 28, when they host No. 4 Lake Forest College in the Slaats Cup Semifinals at 7:00 p.m.
