ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team hosted Lake Forest in the NCHA Slaats Cup Semifinals on Saturday night at Arrington Ice Arena. The top-seeded Bulldogs skated past the No. 4 Foresters with a commanding 5-0 victory. Goaltender Kiera Stack recorded her eighth shutout of the season in the win.
Adrian opened the scoring early in the first period as Emma Simon found the back of the net to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Bulldogs pulled away in the second period. Paige Pomerleau netted a power-play goal, followed by another advantage marker from Hunter Reardon. Late in the frame, Courtney Ben extended the lead to 4-0.
Riley Johnson added a third-period power-play goal to cap the scoring and secure the 5-0 semifinal victory.
Ben led the way offensively with four points on a goal and three assists. Simon and Johnson each added a goal and two assists for three-point performances, while Pomerleau finished with a goal and an assist. Stack made 17 saves to earn her eighth shutout of the season, tying for the fourth-most shutouts in a single season in program history.
The Bulldogs will host the NCHA Slaats Cup Championship on Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 p.m. ET. Adrian will face No. 3 St. Norbert.
