ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team reclaimed the NCHA Slaats Cup on Saturday afternoon. The No. 1-seeded Bulldogs defeated the No. 3-seeded St. Norbert College Green Knights in overtime, 4-3. Saturday's game served as a measure of revenge for Adrian, which fell in overtime on the road to St. Norbert in the 2024-25 Slaats Cup Final.
Adrian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Paige Pomerleau netted the opening goal, followed by a tally from Ava Mattaliano.
In the second period, St. Norbert scored on the power play, but Hannah Markovich responded with a power-play goal of her own to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead. Later in the period, St. Norbert pulled within one with another power-play goal.
With seven minutes remaining in the third period, St. Norbert found the back of the net to tie the game and force overtime.
In overtime, the Bulldogs controlled possession before Hunter Reardon snuck a shot past the goaltender to secure the 4-3 victory and the NCHA Slaats Cup title.
Pomerleau finished the game with a goal and an assist, while Kaylee Simon and Courtney Ben each recorded two assists. Kiera Stack finished with 20 saves in goal.
Following the championship game, the NCHA announced the 2025-26 Slaats Cup All-Tournament Team. Riley Johnson, Courtney Ben, and Emma Simon earned forward honors, while Kiera Stack was named the tournament's top goaltender. Pomerleau finished the tournament with five goals and three assists to be named the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoff MVP.
With Saturday's win, Adrian earns the NCHA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs will learn their opponent during the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Selection Show on Sunday, March 8 at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
