HILLSDALE, Mich. – The NCWA wrestling team competed in the GLC Conference Tournament over the weekend, with the Bulldogs qualifying five wrestlers for the NCWA National Championships later this month.

Jonathan Shannon highlighted the Bulldogs with a first-place finish, claiming the conference championship at 197 pounds. Shannon opened the day with a win by forfeit before securing the title with a victory by fall over a wrestler from Ohio State University.

Ben Colbart placed sixth for the Bulldogs in the 174-pound bracket. Colbart earned a 21-18 decision victory early in the tournament before falling in the semifinals and eventually finishing sixth overall.

Easton Hardesty finished fourth in the 157-pound bracket. After dropping his opening match, Hardesty bounced back with a 15-0 technical fall before being forced to medically forfeit in the third-place match.

Sean Samuels placed eighth at 141 pounds, while Gavin Berkeypile finished fourth with the help of a pair of wins by fall.

Berkeypile, Samuels, Hardesty, Colbart, and Shannon all qualified for the NCWA National Championships, which will take place March 26-28 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
