COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Adrian College women's lacrosse team turned in a dominant all-around performance on Wednesday afternoon, cruising to a 20-8 victory over Capital at Bernlohr Stadium.
Adrian wasted no time asserting control, erupting for eight first-quarter goals to build an early 8-1 advantage. Jenna Allie opened the scoring before Mariana Miller followed shortly after, sparking a stretch where the Bulldogs scored six unanswered goals in just over four minutes.
Sarah Gross led the offensive charge with five goals, while Miller added four goals and two assists. Kacie Woodall, Jenna Allie, and Madeline Turcotte each contributed three goals, with Turcotte orchestrating the attack with a game-high four assists and seven total points.
The Bulldogs carried a 10-2 lead into halftime and continued to pour it on in the third quarter, netting six more goals to extend the margin to double digits. Adrian's balanced scoring and ball movement proved too much for Capital, as Ruby Monahan and Grace Holland found the back of the net as well.Â
Adrian also controlled possession throughout the contest, winning 22 draw controls compared to Capital's nine, led by Turcotte's eight and Allie's four. The Bulldogs forced 15 turnovers while committing just five of their own, showcasing a disciplined effort on both ends of the field.
In goal, Bella Norton earned the win after allowing just two goals and making two saves in over 22 minutes of action, while Chloe Martin and Emerysn Alberts combined for two additional saves in relief.
Adrian improves to 5-1 on the season with the victory and will look to carry the momentum into Saturday's contest at Kenyon College. Opening draw set for 3:00 PM.Â
