GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Adrian College women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-11 decision on the road to Kenyon on Saturday afternoon at The Field-Benson Bowl. Adrian moves to 5-2 overall.
The Bulldogs were led offensively by Madeline Turcotte, who delivered a standout performance with six goals and two assists for an eight-point outing. Kacie Woodall added four points on two goals and two assists, while Abby Malone chipped in two goals. Mariana Miller rounded out the scoring with a goal and two assists.
Kenyon opened the contest with a strong first quarter, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before Woodall put Adrian on the board with a man-up goal in the final seconds of the frame to make it 3-1.
In the second quarter, the Bulldogs showed offensive life, scoring three goals, including two from Turcotte and another from Woodall. However, Kenyon answered with six goals in the quarter to take a 9-4 advantage into halftime.
Adrian continued to battle in the third quarter, highlighted by Turcotte completing her hat trick early in the frame, but Kenyon maintained control, extending its lead to 12-5 heading into the final quarter.
The Bulldogs mounted their strongest push in the fourth, netting six goals in the period. Turcotte added three more scores in the quarter, while Miller and Malone each found the back of the net during man-up opportunities. Adrian trimmed the deficit to four at one point, but Kenyon responded down the stretch to secure the 17-11 victory.
Defensively, goalkeeper Bella Norton recorded 13 saves in the effort. Abby Malone led the Bulldogs with five ground balls, while Ava Lazzareschi added four. Woodall also contributed on the draw with three controls as Adrian totaled 11 for the game.
The Bulldogs finished with 27 shots, including 18 on goal, while Kenyon held advantages in shots (37-27), ground balls (23-16), and draw controls (18-11).
Adrian will look to bounce back in its next contest Wednesday at home against Augustina at 4:00 PM.
