Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Augustana Behind Explosive Offensive Performance

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant showing at Docking Stadium on Wednesday evening, defeating Augustana (Ill.), 24-9.

Adrian (6-2) showcased its offensive depth early and often, erupting for eight first-quarter goals and never looking back en route to the non-conference victory over Augustana (7-4).

The Bulldogs wasted little time setting the tone, with Jenna Allie opening the scoring just over a minute into the contest. Adrian rattled off a 6-1 run midway through the first quarter, fueled by multiple goals from Madeline Turcotte and Kacie Woodall, to build a commanding 8-2 lead after one.

Despite a brief push from the Vikings early in the second quarter, Adrian responded emphatically. The Bulldogs scored nine goals in the period, including a stretch of five unanswered tallies, to take a 17-6 advantage into halftime.

Allie led the offensive charge with a game-high six goals and added two assists, while Turcotte recorded a nine-point performance with five goals and four assists. Woodall also turned in an impressive outing, finishing with four goals and four assists. Mariana Miller contributed five goals and an assist to round out a balanced and potent attack.

Adrian continued to control play in the second half, outscoring Augustana 7-3 over the final two quarters. The Bulldogs' defense held the Vikings to just 12 total shots while forcing 19 turnovers.

In addition to the offensive output, Adrian dominated possession with a 24-10 advantage in draw controls, led by Turcotte's game-high 11. The Bulldogs also held edges in ground balls (24-20) and clears (11-of-13).

Bella Norton earned the win in goal for Adrian, making two saves in over 43 minutes of action, while Emerysn Alberts saw time in relief.

The Bulldogs will look to carry the momentum into conference play starting Saturday on the road at Alma. Opening draw set for 4:00 PM.
