HIRAM, Ohio -- The Adrian College men's volleyball team delivered a strong all-around performance on Wednesday evening, sweeping Hiram College in straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) inside Price Gymnasium. With the win, Adrian improves to 10-11 overall (2-4 MCVL).
The Bulldogs were paced offensively by Sam Landers, who recorded a team-high 12 kills while hitting .276. Dominic Rees added seven kills and was a force at the net with four block assists, while Carson Bell chipped in five kills and two service aces.
Ethan Rusnica was efficient in limited swings, totaling four kills on a .571 hitting percentage, and David Cauley contributed seven digs to lead Adrian defensively.
Setter Logan Bender orchestrated the offense with 23 assists and added 10 digs to complete a double-double effort.
Adrian opened the match by grinding out a 25-19 first-set victory before finding its rhythm offensively in the second set, hitting .308 as a team en route to a 25-20 win. The Bulldogs closed out the sweep in the third set, using 13 kills to secure a 25-22 victory.
As a team, Adrian totaled 34 kills on a .202 hitting percentage while adding six service aces and six total blocks. Defensively, the Bulldogs finished with 36 digs and limited Hiram to a .149 hitting percentage.
The Bulldogs will look to carry the momentum forward as they head to Olivet Friday for a conference matchup at 7:00 PM.
