ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant all-around performance Saturday afternoon, defeating Trine, 17-3, at Docking Stadium.
The Bulldogs set the tone early, jumping out to a 4-2 lead in the opening quarter behind goals from Kacie Woodall and Mariana Miller. Adrian capitalized in all situations, including a man-down goal from Miller and a man-up tally later in the period to seize control.
Adrian extended its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Trine 6-1 to take a commanding 10-3 advantage into halftime. Woodall and Madeline Turcotte led the offensive surge, while Jenna Allie added a late free-position goal to cap the half.
The Bulldogs continued their momentum into the third, holding Trine scoreless while adding three more goals. Sarah Gross, Woodall, and Turcotte each found the back of the net as Adrian built a 13-3 cushion heading into the final frame.
In the fourth, Adrian put the game out of reach with four more goals, including tallies from Gross, Allie, and Woodall. The Bulldogs also added two man-down goals in the period, showcasing their ability to capitalize in every phase.
Woodall led all scorers with five goals and two assists, while Miller matched her with five goals. Turcotte contributed six points on three goals and three assists, and Allie added five points with two goals and three assists.
Adrian dominated statistically, outshooting Trine 50-14 and holding a 39-24 advantage in ground balls. The Bulldogs also controlled the draw, winning 16 compared to Trine's seven, and were nearly perfect in clears (21-of-22).
In goal, Bella Norton earned the win with six saves, while Emerysn Alberts closed out the contest with four saves in relief.
With the win, Adrian improves to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play and look to keep building strong on Saturday as they will host Albion at 4:00 PM.Â
