GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College track and field teams traveled east on Saturday to compete in the Knight Invite, hosted by Calvin University. The Bulldogs turned in several strong performances, highlighted by multiple event wins on both the men's and women's sides.
Leading the way for the men was Jaymes Vines, who won the 100-meter dash in 11.38 seconds and anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay team that finished in 42.42 seconds. Joining Vines on the relay were Cal DeLise, Brandon Berry, and Asher Cousino. DeLise also placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.43 seconds and finished second in the 200-meter dash in 22.14 seconds.
Will Houvener paced the distance events with a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, crossing in 15:30. In the field events, Ian Chavis tied for sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.77 meters, while Forest Schroeder finished eighth at 5.70 meters. KJ Scott added a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 44.46 meters, and Matthew Cunningham placed sixth in the javelin.
On the women's side, Alysia Townsend led the Bulldogs with a victory in the 200-meter dash, posting a personal-best time of 26.19 seconds. She also finished seventh in the high jump and helped the 4x100-meter relay team to a third-place finish. Joining Townsend on the relay were Piper Pierce, Ema Crowley, and Madaline Goldmeyer, as the quartet finished in 53.19 seconds.
Goldmeyer also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.67. Bridget Waterstradt continued her strong season by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:31 and setting a personal best in the 800-meter run at 2:31. In the distance events, Lily Etelamaki placed fifth and Ava Arnes finished eighth. Carly Sicilia rounded out the women's top performances with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.15 meters.
The Bulldogs return to action next week at the Don Kleinow Memorial Invite, hosted by Siena Heights in Adrian, Michigan, on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24.
