ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team keeps setting a higher standard each year as for the second year in a row the Bulldogs are set to host the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals presented by Collegiate Credit Union. The Bulldogs have secured the No. 3 seed with an overall record of 11-4 and conference record of 5-2, earning them a home playoff game as they host the No. 6 seed St. Mary's College.
Offensively, Adrian has been electric all season long, tallying 267 goals, which is the most in the MIAA. The Bulldogs also lead the conference in assists (139), shots (562), shots on goal (450), women-up goals (44), and women-down goals (15), showcasing their ability to execute at a high level in every situation.
Leading the charge is offensive powerhouse junior
Madeline Turcotte, who leads not only the team but the MIAA stat sheet in nearly every major category including goals, assists, points, shots, shots on goal, and draw controls. Turcotte has recorded 55 goals and 41 assists for a total of 96 points thus far. She also has won 102 draw controls, recorded 125 shots with 99 being on goal, collecting 49 ground balls, 20 caused turnovers, and two game winning goals this season so far. Right along side with her is sophomore
Kacie Woodall who has also been an offensive powerhouse for this Bulldog team, tallying 48 goals and 32 assists for a total of 80 points. Woodall has also recorded 36 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers, and two game winning goals as well. Senior
Jenna Allie has been a standout for this Adrian squad as well as she recorded 53 goals, 21 assists, 38 ground balls, and 15 caused turnovers.
On the defensive end, senior
Ava Lazzareschi has been a standout force, leading the Bulldogs with 32 caused turnovers and collecting 41 ground balls. Following Lazzareschi, sophomore
Abby Malone has dominated with 23 caused turnovers and 46 ground balls, however was able to put up some offensive numbers as well, tallying 22 goals and 16 assists on the season thus far.
Between the pipes sophomore
Bella Norton has been a brick wall. Norton, recording 91 saves with a .450 save percentage, and a 9.78 goals against average.
"Yet again, our program has taken another incredible step forward this season." Said Head Coach
Amanda Asher.
"We finished the regular season 11–4 overall and 5–2 in conference play, earning a third-place finish—the highest seeding we've achieved in over a decade. We're proud to be in a position to compete for a conference tournament championship. This is a special group, and after coming so close to a regular season title, our players are motivated, focused, and hungry for more!"
The Bulldogs clinched the No. 3 seed in the MIAA tournament where they will face the No. 6 seeded team, St. Mary's College. The last time these two met was only just over two weeks ago where the Bulldogs dominated a 15-7 victory, with Adrian looking to dominate the Belles once more. Opening face-off will take place at Docking Stadium at 1:00 PM on Saturday. The winner will advance to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they will take on Calvin University on Tuesday, April 28 at 4:00 PM.
