HOLLAND, Mich. – The Adrian College track and field teams competed at the Outdoor MIAA Championships on Thursday and Friday, hosted by Hope College. The Bulldogs recorded multiple top-eight finishes across a variety of events, leading to a sixth-place team finish for the men with 54 points and a fifth-place finish for the women with 41 points.
For the men, Cal Delist placed seventh in the 100m with a time of 10.88, while Jaymes Vines finished second in the 200m at 21.84. Joseph Sheridan took fourth in the 110m hurdles (15.22), and Asher Cousino placed eighth in the 400m hurdles (59.83). Adrian's 4x100 relay team earned a third-place finish with a time of 42.13 and placed sixth in the 4x400 relay at 3:29.06.
In the field events, Brandon Berry placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.98m, while Ethan DeBerry finished third in the pole vault at 4.26m and Willem Evenson followed in fourth at 4.16m. KJ Scott placed fifth in the discus (46.09m) and finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.34m, breaking his own program record.
On the women's side, Alysia Townsend placed sixth in the 100m (12.67) and eighth in the 200m (27.54). Bridget Waterstradt earned a seventh-place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 11:31.60. The Bulldogs placed fifth in the 4x100 relay (50.28) and seventh in the 4x400 relay (4:16.28).
In the field events, Townsend added a sixth-place finish in the high jump (1.59m), while Carly Sicilia placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20m. Townsend highlighted the meet by earning MIAA Individual Champion honors in the long jump with a mark of 5.76m. Mallory Platzer placed sixth in the discus (33.42m), and Clarissa Berger finished fifth in the hammer throw (42.43m).
Several Bulldogs also recorded personal-best performances. On the women's side, Ava Arnes set a personal record in the 5000m (20:37.20), and Sidney Pentoney did the same in the 1500m (5:31.39). For the men, Berry's high jump mark was a personal best, while Gavin Shelton (33:32.46) and Beau Shaffer (34:19.68) each recorded personal records in the 10,000m.
The Bulldogs will next turn their attention to a pair of Last Chance Qualifiers for select athletes. The first will take place on Wednesday, May 6, at Hillsdale College, followed by another on Friday, May 8, at Saint Francis University (Ill.).
