OLIVET, Mich. – The Adrian College cross country team opened up the 2026 campaign on Tuesday afternoon at the Comet Open, hosted by the University of Olivet. On a day when temperatures reached the low 90s, both the men's and women's teams battled the heat to each place third in their respective races.
A top-10 finish from Joshua Sharp-Pelto highlighted the night for the men's side, as he led all Bulldog runners with a time of 16:32.24. Beau Shaffer finished in 17th place with a time of 16:57.36, while Owen Streiter-Byron came in 28th with a 17:47.18 finish. Freshmen Wyatt Vowell and Austin Derrick came in 37th and 46th place, respectively, in their collegiate debuts. Zack Klepanski finished 51st with a time of 19:32.15.
On the women's side, Bridget Waterstradt got her senior year started with a third-place finish. Waterstradt picked up right where she left off last fall, finishing with a time of 19:23.78. Olivia Hyatt came in 26th place with a time of 21:06.82, and close behind her was Lily Etelamaki in 27th place with a finish of 21:26.12. Pierce Pibbles finished 47th in her debut, with a 23:16.30 time. Finishing two seconds after Pibbles was Emily Ventrone, who came in 48th place after a 23:18.53 finish. Grace Young ran a 27:19.29, finishing in 59th place.
