ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team battled Kenyon College to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon at Docking Stadium. The Bulldogs moved to 3-2-2 on the season following the non-conference match.
Kenyon applied pressure during the opening minutes, but goalkeeper Monica Arndt made three saves to keep the match scoreless. Adrian generated its first shot on goal in the 31st minute when Delaney Batur tested the Kenyon goalkeeper.
Madison Verhaeghe created another opportunity shortly before halftime, placing a shot on frame in the 42nd minute. Hayley Baldwin added an attempt moments later as the teams entered the break tied 0-0.
The Bulldogs came out attacking in the second half. Lauren Lee recorded a shot in the 50th minute before Batur followed with another attempt and helped Adrian earn a corner kick. Verhaeghe put Adrian's final shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the match remained scoreless.
Arndt and the Adrian defense held firm throughout the second half. Arndt made three more saves after the break, including a stop in the 81st minute, to preserve the clean sheet.
Kenyon finished with a 14-7 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Verhaeghe led Adrian with three shots, including two on target, while Batur recorded two shots and placed one on goal.
Arndt played all 90 minutes and finished with six saves to record the shutout.
The Bulldogs will remain home to face Marietta College on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Docking Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
