ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Marietta College Wednesday afternoon. The loss moved Adrian to 3-3-2 on the season.
Marietta got out to a fast start. In the second minute, the Pioneers were able to poke the ball through the Adrian defense and into the back of the net.
The Pioneers continued to give themselves opportunities early, recording eight shots before the Bulldogs' first. Marietta extended their lead on a cross into the box and led 2-0 in the 18th minute.
At the end of the first half, Adrian put together three corner kicks and gave themselves chances to score. The Bulldogs were able to carry this momentum on offense into the second half, as the ball rarely left the Adrian offensive zone.
Adrian cut the lead in half on an Ashley Hughes goal in the 68th minute. Despite recording 17 shots and nine corner kicks, the Bulldog offense couldn't find the equalizer, losing 2-1.
