ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team fell to Ohio Northern University, 2-1, on Wednesday evening at Docking Stadium. The Bulldogs held a 1-0 lead at halftime before the Polar Bears scored twice in the final 45 minutes to earn the victory.
Adrian took an early lead in the ninth minute when Jack Pelton found the back of the net to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0. Adrian carried the advantage into halftime despite Ohio Northern holding a 6-2 edge in shots during the opening 45 minutes.
Ohio Northern continued to pressure the Bulldogs in the second half, with Adrian goalkeeper Eli Sizemore making six saves after halftime to keep Adrian in front. The Bulldogs had a chance to extend their lead, including a free kick from just outside the 18' which was saved by the Ohio Northern goalkeeper.
The Polar Bears eventually broke through in the 88th minute to even the match 1-1.
Ohio Northern scored the game winning goal in the final moments to complete the comeback and secure the 2-1 victory.
Sizemore finished the night with seven saves for the Bulldogs, while Adrian was held to four shots, including three on goal. Ohio Northern recorded 20 shots and eight corner kicks in the match.
Adrian returns to action with its next scheduled contest on Saturday, September 26 at home against Kenyon College at 4:00 PM.
