ADRIAN, Mich. – During every homecoming weekend, Adrian College inducts a new class of Bulldogs into the Hall of Fame. Throughout the week, we will highlight the Class of 2026 and the accomplishments each of them made during their time at Adrian College.
On October 3, 2026, Adrian College will honor Beth Carr, Class of 1979, whose accomplishments on the basketball court and as an educator have left a major impact on those around her.
During her time at Adrian College, Beth Carr played three sports: field hockey, softball, and basketball. She shined on the court and played a vital role on the 1976-77 women's basketball team that was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998, and the 1977-78 MIAA Championship team
Carr was named team captain before her senior season. That year, she helped lead the Bulldogs to a 13-win season, good for second in the conference. After the season, Carr was named to the Michigan All-State Small College Basketball Team and National Scouting Association All-American Basketball Team.
Her success wasn't confined to the basketball court. Carr excelled in the classroom, earning Dean's List honors every semester and graduating Magna Cum Laude.
In 1976, Carr was a member of the MIAA Honors Band. She worked on campus as a women's sports reporter for Adrian College's newspaper. Carr was a member of Alpha Chi, Kappa Delta Pi, and the president of Alpha Sigma Alpha. In 1978, Carr was a finalist on the Homecoming Court.
Arguably, Carr's greatest impact was on the students she taught for 30 years. Upon graduating, Carr started working as a teacher in the South San Antonio Independent School District. In 1996, her work was recognized when she won the Neil Armstrong Elementary Teacher of the Year Award.
Beyond the classroom, Carr served as a Girl Scout Leader, a Parent-Teacher Association officer, and a board member of the Highland Park Neighborhood Association. She has also spent time rescuing cats and dogs.
Carr has a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Elizabeth.
Her basketball career is far from over. Since 2010, she has played in the Texas Senior State Games every year, the National Senior Games every two years, and the World Senior Games three times. Her team has earned a top-three finish twice at the World Senior Games. They have earned a top-three finish every year at the Texas Senior State Games. She currently plays for the Texas Tornadoes.
In addition to the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday night, the Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be honored on the field before the Homecoming football game on Saturday.
