Pelton’s Penalty Kick, Sizemore’s Shutout Lift Men’s Soccer Past Wabash

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team returned to the win column on Tuesday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Wabash College at Docking Stadium. Jack Pelton scored the match's only goal, while Eli Sizemore recorded the shutout in goal.

Sizemore was tested early and made saves in the eighth and 19th minutes to keep the match scoreless. Adrian began creating opportunities later in the half, with Victor Munogo, Pelton and Aidan Beiter each recording shots.

Sizemore added another save in the 40th minute to send the teams into halftime tied at 0-0.

The Bulldogs increased the pressure after the break. Pelton recorded an attempt in the 55th minute before Carter Kerbawy followed with another shot in the 58th. A Wabash foul then awarded Adrian a penalty kick, which Pelton converted to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Adrian continued to attack after taking the lead. Bryan Baker and Alex Russell added scoring opportunities before Kerbawy placed a shot on goal in the 69th minute.

The Bulldogs' defense protected the advantage throughout the closing stages. Adrian recorded a team save in the 71st minute, and Sizemore made his final stop in the 89th to secure the shutout.

Pelton led the Adrian offense with three shots and the game-winning goal. Kerbawy finished with two attempts and one shot on goal. Sizemore played all 90 minutes and made four saves.

Adrian held a 10-8 advantage in shots, while Wabash finished with a 5-2 edge in shots on goal and a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-4 on the season and will travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Delaware, Ohio.
