NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Adrian College women's soccer team earned a 2-1 road victory over Manchester University on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs remained unbeaten and improved to 2-0-1 on the season.
Adrian controlled possession early and opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Lauren Lee set up Gracie Jagodzinski, who found the back of the net to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Nora Kinsey nearly doubled the advantage in the 25th minute, but her shot was saved. Manchester responded with the equalizer in the 45th minute, sending the match into halftime tied 1-1.
The Bulldogs quickly regained control after the break, earning consecutive corner kicks in the opening three minutes of the second half. Isla Brown placed a shot on goal in the 52nd minute before Delaney Batur added another attempt moments later. Bri Aikens broke the tie in the 53rd minute, scoring the go-ahead goal to put Adrian in front 2-1. The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure, placing five more shots on goal over the remainder of the match.
Adrian's defense shut down the Manchester attack in the second half, holding the Spartans without a shot over the final 45 minutes. The Bulldogs finished with a 17-2 advantage in shots, a 9-1 edge in shots on goal, and earned all nine corner kicks in the match. Jagodzinski led the Adrian attack with five shots, including three on goal. Aikens and Madison Verhaeghe recorded two shots apiece, while Monica Arndt and Riley Miller each played one half in goal.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, September 9 when they travel to Rochester Christian University for a 7 p.m. match at Pierce Middle School.
