Results

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bulldog men's tennis squad dropped a 6-0 decision in the first round of the MIAA Championships to Calvin on Friday morning. The championships are being hosted by Kalamazoo College and the Bulldogs squared off with the Knights for the second time this week after falling 9-0 in the regular season finale.

Chris Ludwig fell 6-2, 6-1 at one singles against Steve DeMaagd. Kyle Austene was blanked 6-0, 6-0 at five singles against Andrew Rescorla. Seth Knowles had the same result as Ludwig (6-2, 6-1) at six singles versus Nick Steenstra. The other three singles matches were not completed.

Calvin lost just two games in three doubles matchups. Ludwig and Dominic Merollis was tripped up 8-1 at one doubles against Ricky Tilton and Mike Goorhouse. Blake Childs and Austene matched up at two doubles with Matthew and Andrew De Vlieger and surrendered an 8-1 score. Orlo Yeagley and Jeff Kennard had no luck against Marcus Zeilstra and Rescorla at three doubles with an 8-0 result.

Adrian, the seventh seed, will face sixth-seeded Tri-State in the next round following a Hope/Alma match which started at 11:00 a.m.
