Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score
ADRIAN, Mich. -
The Adrian College softball team took two wins from the Kalamazoo College Hornets in MIAA action on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at the AC softball field.
The Bulldogs had a balanced scoring attack in the first game as they scored runs in each inning in the shortened game. Krissy Sheets and Holly Lowe both singled and later scored in the bottom half of the first inning to give the Bulldogs the 2-0 lead after the first inning.
In the second, all nine Bulldogs in the offensive line-up made a trip to the dish as Kristin Toney, Katie Adams, Carmen Batway, Sheets, and Lowe all scored runs for the home team. Toney and Lowe each doubled in the bottom half of the frame to pace the five-run outburst.
Katie Adams and Jenna Kloster scored in the third and fourth innings to round out the offensive production for the Bulldogs.
Sheets, Lowe, and Kloster each posted two-hit performances in the first game.
Andrea Vangoss had more than enough offensive production to pick up her 11th win in the circle. The lone senior on the team threw five complete innings and surrendered just one hit and one walk while striking out three for her fourth one-hitter of the season.
In game two, the Hornets stung first by plating a run in the bottom of the second inning. The Bulldogs did not let that lead last long as they responded for five runs in the top of the third inning. Batway, Lowe, Kloster, and Fracassa had four consecutive hits with one away in the inning and would all score to put the Bulldogs up for good. Ashley Kalinski had a two-out walk and scored on a Katie Adams single to give the Bulldogs their fifth run of the inning.
Adrian would score two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 9-1 win in five innings. Kloster went a perfect 3-for-3 in the game with a run scored and an RBI while Batway and Lowe each collected two hits.
Kelly Tomasek notched her eighth win of the season by going four innings and giving up just one hit and one unearned run.
The Bulldogs (20-16, 8-6 MIAA) will travel to Tri-State University on Monday for their final regular-season doubleheader against the Thunder. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
