ADRIAN, Mich. -
In a match where a couple of breaks the other way would have made a big difference, the Adrian College men's tennis team dropped a tough 9-0 loss to MIAA opponent Tri-State University.
In both the number two and three doubles matches, the Bulldogs were right in the thick of things until the end, falling by identical 8-6 scores.
The number three and four singles matches were even tighter. In the three singles match, Dominic Merollis took the opening set by 6-3 to have the advantage early. After falling in the second set by a 3-6 score, Merollis and Tim Buchmeier for Tri-State went to a third set tie-breaker. Merollis battled before falling 7-6 (7-5). In the four singles spot, Blake Childs had an equally strong fight despite dropping his match 7-6 (7-4) and 6-4.
The Bulldogs will look to bounce back when they take on Defiance College on Monday, April 7 at Defiance at 4:00 p.m.
