The soggy and muggy conditions could not stop Sarah Evans on Saturday as she recorded her first hat trick in a 3-1 win over Oberlin. The Bulldogs held play in the Oberlin end of the field for most of the contest but despite that the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 going into halftime. Evans scored her first goal of the day at 13:34 with an assist from Lindsay Chitwood to give AC a 1-0 lead. Oberlin kept the match close and got a break of their own when Veronica Fusco tied the game at 27:10 with an assist from Liza Marshall from eight yards out.
Adrian outshot Oberlin, 8-4, in the first 45 minutes as the heavy rain subsided into the second half of play. Oberlin could manage just one shot in the final 45 minutes and the Bulldogs put the game away with two more Evans goals at 62:21 and 84:25. Sabrina Fortney assisted on Evans' second goal and Melissa Rederstorf was credited with an assist on the third goal.
Steffeny Burns is now 3-0 as a keeper in her freshman year making three saves for Adrian. Sarah Grabinski started the second half as a keeper for Oberlin and was saddled with the loss in net. Adrian finished with 13 shots total and eight shots on goal. Evans had four shots on goal for the match. AC improves to 4-1 on the season.
