ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's soccer team picked up a big win in the MIAA with a 1-0 victory over Alma on Tuesday night. With the win, Adrian improves their overall record to 9-5-2 with a 5-2 mark in the MIAA.

Adrian scored a goal in the first half of the game and held on to the lead to earn the 1-0 win. Lindsay Chitwood sparked the goal by moving the ball up the right sideline. Chitwood put a move on a defender to get to the center of the field and fired a shot from 15 yards out. The ball hit the crossbar and fell in front of the goal where freshman Courtney Pomeroy was waiting. Pomeroy scored the goal on a header from directly in front of the goal. Chitwood earned her fifth assist of the season on the play.

The Scots had a chance to tie the game in the second half. Becky Marton got an open look for Alma and took a shot that hit the crossbar. Jessica Swan got the deflection and had a shot at an open net, but she sailed her kick over the goal to end the opportunity.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked 8th in the NCAA Central Region. The win against Alma was significant as the Scots are the only team in the conference to beat Calvin. The Calvin Knights (5-1) are currently on top of the MIAA standings with the Bulldogs (5-2) in second and Kalamazoo (4-1-1) is close behind at third.
