The women's soccer squad picked up a huge win on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win at Hope improving to 6-4-2 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA. The Bulldogs and Flying Dutch battled the elements all match long with rain and winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour at times.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 1:42 into the match. Sarah Evans scored the match's first goal with an assist from Lindsay Chitwood as Evans put a deflection in the back of the goal.
Hope tied the match at 9:58 as Danielle Petzak scored her second goal of the season with an assist from Megan Altieri.
The rest of the match was a field position battle until near the end when Chitwood found a little room and put the game-winner past Kelsey Bos at 84:24. Tessa Kellar was given an assist on the play.
Adrian managed to record 11 shots and eight shots on goal with Chitwood leading the team with three. Hope had eight shots and six shots on net. Steffeny Burns made five saves and earned the win for AC. It was the first game at the new Van Andel soccer stadium for Hope.
