Bulldogs Sweep Saints, Improve to 11-1

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College softball team improved to 11-1 after sweeping a doubleheader against Siena Heights on Saint Patrick's Day. Adrian won game one by the final score of 6-5. The Bulldogs finished off the Saints 8-0 in just five innings in game two.

Adrian got off to a 3-0 lead in game one by scoring one run in each of the first three innings. Siena Heights came back to take the lead by scoring five runs in the fourth inning. Neither team was able to score in the fifth inning, but the game was decided in the sixth as the Bulldogs scored three runs to pull out the 6-5 victory.

Jenna Kloster went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored in game one to lead the offense. Krissy Sheets and Rachel Batman also contributed by scoring two runs each. Sheets hit 2-for-4, while Batman went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Kelly Eberhardt was on the mound for the first four innings of the game for Adrian, but it was Sarah Almack that earned the win. Almack only allowed two hits through three innings, and she did not allow any runs.

Adrian rolled to an easy victory in game two. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first inning, and then blew the game wide open with a five run second inning. AC scored one more run in the third to gain an 8-0 advantage. The game was called after the fifth inning due to the eight-run rule.

Batman went 2-for-3 from the plate in game two and scored two runs. Holly Lowe also scored two runs for Adrian as she went 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. Kloster once again impacted the game with three RBIs and one run scored.

Kelly Tomasek threw a complete game on the hill for Adrian in game two. Tomasek limited Siena Heights to three hits, while striking out four batters.

Adrian will host a doubleheader against Cedarville on March 20th. Game one will begin at 3:00 p.m.
