Strong Third Quarter Gives Men's Lacrosse 9-6 Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's lacrosse team improved their overall record to 6-5 with a victory over Fontbonne University on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs trailed 3-2 at halftime, but they made a comeback to outscore the Griffins 4-0 in the third quarter. Each team scored three goals in the final quarter as Adrian held on to win by the final score of 9-6.

Adrian led 2-0 after the first quarter. Tyler Tanguay scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Josh Maluta. George Riegel pushed the lead to 2-0 by scoring an unassisted goal with nearly three minutes left to play in the first quarter.

Fontbonne shut out Adrian in the second quarter. The Griffins scored three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead into halftime. Jack Diemert scored two of the three goals for Fontbonne.

The Bulldogs made some adjustments at halftime to regain the lead in the third quarter. Adrian shut down the Griffin offense and scored four goals in the quarter to open up a 6-3 lead. Brad Higgins scored two goals in the third, while Eric Hubert and Maluta also contributed with a goal.

Fontbonne scored the first two goals of the third quarter to close the gap to 6-5. The Bulldogs responded by scoring the next three goals of the game. David Monroe, TJ Cook and Ryan Knautz each scored a goal for AC to put the game out of reach.

Pat Gaeger earned the win as the goalie for Adrian. Gaeger played all 60 minutes and made four saves.
