ALBION, Mich. -
The Adrian College softball team got off to a 2-0 start in the MIAA by sweeping Albion College on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs won game one 13-2 in just five innings, but it took a seventh inning comeback and an eighth inning home run for AC to win game two 7-6.
Kelly Eberhardt earned her seventh win of the season in game one. Eberhardt limited the Britons to just three hits in five innings. She struck out three batters.
Adrian scored 13 runs on 14 hits. Katie Adams and Sarah Hall each went 3-for-4 from the plate. Adams had a triple in the game and recorded three RBI's. Hall hit her first home run of the season and ended the game with a career-high six RBI's.
Eberhardt entered game two in the third inning to help spark an Adrian comeback. She got the final out of the third inning, and stayed in for the rest of the game. The sophomore only allowed one run while striking out six batters.
Adrian faced a 5-2 deficit after three innings in game two. The Bulldogs scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5. Albion regained the lead with a run in the sixth, but the Bulldogs caught a break in the seventh to push the game to extra innings.
Adrian was able to score on a wild pitch with two outs in the seventh inning. Amara Karapas came up huge for Adrian in the eighth. The freshman had the best game of her young career against Albion. She hit her second home run of the game against the Britons to win the game for AC in the eighth. Her first home run of her career came in the fourth inning.
