Softball Extends Win Streak to 11 in Sweep at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Adrian College softball team extended their win streak to 11 with a pair of victories on Tuesday at Franklin College. The Bulldogs are in the midst of a very busy week and continued to roll with stout hitting and pitching.

The top of the order scored four runs as Katie Adams and Rachel Batman each scored two apiece in game one. They also each had two hits in four at-bats and each had an RBI. Jenna Kloster did the most damage hitting in the five-spot by going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI's. Kloster had a double and two singles.

Kelly Eberhardt won again in the circle improving to 10-2. She went the distance and allowed four hits including just one extra-base hit, a double. Eberhardt allowed one earned run and walked two with seven strikeouts.

Adrian jumped out 1-0 in the third and increased their lead to 3-0 after the top of the fifth. Franklin got one run back in the bottom of the fifth and Adrian put the game away with three runs in the sixth. The Bulldogs had four hits in the sixth as Adams and Batman had an RBI single and Sarah Hall recorded a sacrifice fly.

Adrian improved to 14-4 overall in game two with an 8-2 win. Adams had a pair of hits and Hall also went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Kristin Toney did not collect a hit but had a pair of RBI's. Kloster finished her day strong going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Katrina Wotten hit in the eight-spot and had a triple going 2-for-3 with two RBI's. Amara Karapas also had a solo home run in the contest.

Eberhardt went the first five innings to get the win (11-2) allowing three hits and two earned runs. She also had five strikeouts in game two. Sarah Almack went the last two innings and allowed just one hit and one walk.

Adrian scored three times in the top of the first and then saw Franklin cut the lead to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. AC answered with a pair of their own in the fourth and then added three more runs in the fifth. The Bulldogs had 12 hits in game two including three extra-base hits. AC also had four stolen bases with Wotten swiping two bags.

The team returns home for a doubleheader on Thursday against Rochester College starting at 3:30 p.m.
