Shafley Throws Perfect Game Against Hornets

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Bulldogs (19-5, 5-1 MIAA) swept a doubleheader against Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon. Each game ended after five innings due to the eight-run rule. Jami Shafley highlighted the day by throwing a perfect game.

Adrian defeated the Hornets 16-0 in game one, and 15-1 in game two. Shafley was brilliant in game one. She made AC history by becoming the first Bulldog to ever throw a perfect game. The freshman threw a complete game and struck out eight batters.

The Bulldogs scored six runs in the first and enjoyed an 8-0 lead after three innings. The fourth inning belonged to AC as the team scored eight runs giving them the 16-0 victory.

Jenna Kloster led Adrian with a 3-for-4 performance from the plate. Meghan Stevens also had an impact as she hit her third home run of the season.

Sarah Almack picked up her first win of the season in the circle for AC in game two. Almack struck out four batters in five innings. She limited Kalamazoo to two hits.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first, but the Hornets answered with a run of their own making the game 2-1. The difference maker came in the third inning when AC put up nine runs to take control of the game. Adrian added four more runs in the fifth to grab the 15-1 win. Kloster, Tara Camper, and Jennifer Wend all recorded doubles in game two.
