Scots Snap Adrian Winning Streak

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College softball team fell to 21-7 overall (7-3 MIAA) as Alma College swept Saturday's doubleheader against the Bulldogs at the AC softball complex. Alma took game one 8-2. They finished the day with an 11-5 victory to pass Adrian in the MIAA standings.

Katie Adams had two of Adrian's six hits in game one. Amara Karapas highlighted the game with her fourth home run of the season. Karapas put AC on the scoreboard with a two run shot over the fence in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Alma played small ball to get a 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Scots expanded their lead in the fifth with three more runs, but the difference maker came in the seventh. Alma put the game out of reach by adding four runs in the final inning of the game to secure the 8-2 win.

Kelly Eberhardt fell to 15-4 in the circle for AC. Eberhardt threw a complete game and struck out six batters.

The Scots took control of game two in the bottom of the second inning. The Alma offense exploded with eight runs forcing the Bulldogs to make a pitching change. Jami Shafley got the start, but she was quickly replaced by Eberhardt.

Alma added one more run in the fourth inning before Adrian was able to cut into the lead. Sarah Hall smashed a home run in the fifth as she led the team with a 2-for-4 performance from the plate. Katie Adams and Maggie Hein also picked up RBI's in the fifth inning.

The Bulldogs will return to action with a crucial doubleheader against Trine on April 21st.
