DEFIANCE, Ohio - It could not have been more of a Jekyll and Hyde scenario on Thursday for the softball squad as they split a pair of games at Defiance College.

Adrian (24-8) dropped a 7-0 decision in game one as they were shutout for just the third time this season. Kelly Schnipke held Adrian at bay with a five-hit complete game. She walked three and struck out two improving to 7-5 in the circle.

Kaycee Butt led Defiance with a pair of RBI's and Marah Robinson belted a home run and had three hits for the Yellow Jackets. Kelly Eberhardt struggled in the circle for the Bulldogs after throwing 12 innings yesterday. She gave up 11 hits and six earned runs in six innings allowing four walks and striking out four. Sarah Hall had two hits in three at-bats for the Bulldogs.

The second game was a different story as Adrian needed just five innings to pull out a 11-0 win. The story might be the resurgence of 2009 All-American Kelly Tomasek. She made her fourth appearance this season and pitched the final two innings allowing no hits with one strikeout. If she could regain her 2009 form, the Bulldogs could be a tough team down the stretch.

Jami Shafley started in the circle and improved to 4-1 with three innings of one-hit ball. She walked one and struck out three. Hall and Amara Karapas each went yard for the Bulldogs. Hall had a three-run shot in a six-run second inning and Karapas had a three-run jack to center in the fourth inning.

Adrian pounded out 14 hits in game two as Meghan Stevens and Jenna Kloster each had a double. Alicia Bickford had a sacrifice fly as did Jennifer Wend in the contest. Stevens went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Kloster was 2-for-3 and Katrina Wotten was also 2-for-3.
