Final Stats
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's lacrosse team
captured the inaugural Midwest Lacrosse Conference title with a
15-3 win at Fontbonne on Saturday. Adrian finishes the season with
five straight wins and were 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the MLC.
Adrian led 4-1 after the first quarter as Josh Maluta got AC on
the board with the first two goals for the Bulldogs. David Monroe had an
assist on Maluta's first goal at 9:45. Ray Medalla scored at 6:31
to cut the lead to 2-1. Ryan Werhane scored
20 seconds later with an assist from T.J. Cook and Tyler Tanguay
scored with 10 seconds left in the quarter from Maluta.
Adrian increased their lead to 8-3 at halftime by scoring the
first two goals of the second quarter. Cam Staffel
unassisted at 10:20 and Maluta from D.J. Clevely at 8:23 gave the
Bulldogs a 6-1 lead. Tanguay and Ryan Knautz also
scored in the second.
The Bulldogs shut out Fontbonne in the second half as they
scored the game's final seven goals. Tanguay scored the first two
of the third quarter as Maluta and Monroe each recorded an assist.
Jeff Ivey finished the third at 3:01 from Maluta.
Adrian scored four times in the fourth quarter as Monroe, Donald
Nowicki, Cook and Tony Schrank closed
things out in style. Adrian outshot Fontbonne, 41-27, for the game.
Fontbonne turned it over 27 times in the game. Pat Gaeger made 12
saves in net and earned the win improving to 10-3.
Maluta had a season-high eight points with three goals and five
assists. Tanguay led Adrian with four goals. Monroe ended with a
goal and two assists. AC had 10 different goal scorers in the
contest.
