The Bulldogs (17-5, 3-1 MIAA) suffered their first loss of the season since March 13th against Olivet in game one of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs bounced back in game two by grabbing a 10-2 victory in just five innings.
Sarah Hall played well for AC in game one. Hall went 4-for-6 with one RBI, and she also scored two runs. Meghan Stevens followed Hall in the lineup with a 3-for-5 performance. Kristin Toney matched Stevens' effort with three hits of her own and an RBI. Hall and Stevens each recorded their seventh double of the season against the Comets in game one.
Kelly Eberhardt was in the circle for the Bulldogs. Eberhardt went the distance, but walked four batters while giving up 12 hits. Only four of the six Olivet runs were earned, and she managed to strike out 10 Comets.
Adrian put two runs on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning to snag a 2-0 lead. Olivet chipped away at the lead in the bottom of the inning and took a 3-2 advantage after scoring two in the bottom of the fifth.
With their backs against the wall, Adrian came up big in the top of the seventh to score a run sending the game into extra innings. Neither team was able to generate a run in the eighth, and the game remained tied after the ninth as each team added one run. AC scored their fifth run of the game in the top of the tenth, but Olivet was able to snap Adrian's 13-game winning streak by scoring two runs giving the Comets a 6-5 victory.
A monster first inning sealed an Adrian victory in game two. The Bulldogs put up eight runs on six hits against Olivet to blow the game wide open.
Katie Adams led AC in game two with a 4-for-4 performance from the plate. She recorded a game-high three RBI's and also scored two runs. Stevens and Katrina Wotten also did some damage to Olivet by recording two RBI's each.
Jami Shafley cruised to her second win of the season in the circle for Adrian. Shafley limited Olivet to four hits, and also struck out four batters.
Adrian will face the winless Kalamazoo Hornets tomorrow, April 10th at 1:00 p.m.
