The Adrian College women's soccer team claimed a 3-1
non-conference win over WHAC-member Aquinas College at Performance
Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to improve to 4-1-1 overall in
2010.
The Bulldogs had three different goal scorers against the Saints
and made a statement early by scoring just 29 seconds into the
match. Brittany Moreau
scored her second goal of the year with an assist by Sam Barker. Moreau
took a ball on the close right wing from 10 yards out and fired
into the lower left corner.
Adrian added to their lead at 27:31 as Lauren Cozzi
notched her second goal of the year. Cozzi gathered a rebound in
front of the net after a shot by Barker to put Adrian ahead
2-0.
After the Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead into the locker room, they
struck quickly in the second half scoring 1:28 into the half as Jordan Wolf
got a rebound off her own shot and stuffed it past goalkeeper
Monica Rischiotto for her first goal as a collegiate. With a 3-0
lead late in the game, Aquinas got on the board as Emily Wabich
scored her second of the year at 79:35 with an assist from Jaime
Tomaszewski.
Barker led Adrian with five shots on goal but was held scoreless
for the first time in four matches. The Bulldogs outshot the
Saints, 16-12, with a 10-5 edge in shots on goal. Chayna Wallace
got the win playing 76:06 and making four saves. Stevie Burns saw
her first action of the season playing the final 13:54. Adrian
entered the regional rankings this week and are currently 10th in
the Central Region.
