The first shot on goal went into the back of the net for Calumet
College on Friday afternoon. After that it was all Bulldogs as they
did not allow another shot on goal for the final 82:08 in a 5-1
win.
Freshman Sam Barker
continued her torrid start as she scored a natural hat trick in a
span of 31:36 between the first and second half and also assisted
on Adrian's first goal. Samantha Bono
tied the game at 1-1 at the 13:19 mark and after that it was a
barrage of goals.
Brittany
Moreau scored her third goal of the season at 14:45 with an
assist from Patti Vaassen
which proved to be the game-winning goal. The Barker show got
underway at 27:32 as she scored an unassisted goal. She then took a
pass from Anika Johnson
and made it 4-1 at the 39:33 mark.
In the second half, Barker scored her eighth goal of the season
unassisted at 59:04 to give Adrian a 5-1 win. Adrian notched 13
shots on goal as Steffeny Burns did not make a save in getting her
first win of the season after being named Second Team All-MIAA in
2009.
Barker currently has 20 points on the season and is followed by
Moreau's seven points. The Bulldogs are now 5-1-1 on the season and
set up a showdown on Sunday at Elmhurst. The Bulldogs are ranked
10th in the Central region while Elmhurst began the week in
eighth.
