Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team rolled over Marygrove College Saturday afternoon for their first win of 2013-14. The Bulldogs outscored the Mustangs 39-19 in the second half as they eased their way to a 75-46 victory and improved to 1-4 on the season.
The first half was started slowly by the Bulldogs as they remained tied with Marygrove 5-5 through the first three minutes of play. Adrian then separated from the Mustangs with a 9-0 run over the 2:15 of the game to take a 14-7 lead. The Bulldogs used this momentum to carry their lead to the intermission as they outscored the Mustangs 36-27 over the first 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs started the second half by scoring the first nine points and stretching their lead to 18 before the Mustangs could respond. This put the Bulldogs in full control of the game as they soared past Marygrove to secure their first victory of the season.
Ben Rodak led the Bulldogs with a game-high 18 points, seven assists and three rebounds. Rickey Jackson added 14 points and five rebounds. Braxton Southwell recorded a double-double in the form of 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Mitchell Small contributed 11 points and three assists.
The Bulldogs outscored the Mustangs 21-2 on second chance points and shot 50% (10-20) from three point range on their way to the blowout win.
Adrian will play next tomorrow, December 1 at Mich.-Dearborn at 7 p.m.
