Bulldogs Fall 9-0 to Mount Union

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The women's tennis team suffered just its second loss of the season against an undefeated Mount Union (5-0) team on Tuesday on the Bulldog spring trip. The Raiders won 9-0 over the Bulldogs on an unseasonably cold day with temperatures with the 40's.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Raiders came out hot and stayed that way throughout the match. The doubles portion saw No. 1 tandem of Arielle Williams and Kylee Bezeau battle to an 8-5 decision in favor of Mount Union. Only two games were taken in the other two doubles matches.

In singles play, Kathryn Van Wormer battled tough in the first set at No. 4 against Lauren Olivier but fell 7-5 before dropping the second set 6-2. In the other singles matches, the most games won by any one player was four as Morgan Spencer and Bezeau.

"Although we did not win a match, we played better than some of the scores ended up. Mount Union is a very solid team and they played well. We will build off this match and playing a quality opponent should help us in the long run," said head coach Adam Albertsen.
