Britons Claim 7-2 Win in Women's Tennis

ALBION, Mich. – The Adrian College women's tennis team has a lot to be positive about despite a 7-2 loss at Albion College on Tuesday. The Britons are 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA and the Bulldogs played a bunch of tough matches including a pair of points.

Justine Hanson and Kathryn Van Wormer paired up at No. 3 doubles for the first time this season and picked up an 8-5 win over Christina Khim and Lauren Rasmussen. The Britons won the other two doubles matches – 8-4 at No. 1 and 8-2 at No. 2 – to take a 2-1 lead into singles.

The Britons claimed straight set wins at No. 1 through No. 5 spots with Kylee Bezeau having a very competitive first set falling 7-5 at No. 2 singles against Katie Blumberg. The other scores were all very similar with Adrian either winning three or four games in four matchups. Victoria Watson improved to 3-4 in singles this season with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over Khim.

"The team played great in the loss with several tough matches," said head coach Adam Albertsen. "Both teams battled the wind outside and we played with a ton of heart against a great team."

The Bulldogs will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, Apr. 5 as they travel to Alma College for a 1 p.m. matinee.
