FRASER, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA D1 men were firing on all cylinders against the Rochester College Warriors, and when the final buzzer sounded the Bulldogs emerged with an 8-2 win on Wednesday.
Adrian College got the win with help from a great game by Brad Kobryn, who had two goals and one assist. Kobryn scored the first of his two goals short handed at 2:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Adrian College. The Bulldogs found themselves down a man on Sam Johnston's boarding. Kobryn's next tally short handed made the score 5-1 with 7:05 left in the second period. Adrian had gotten the advantage when Rochester College's Matt Kadolph was sent off for high-sticking. Justin Fisher assisted on the tally.
The Bulldogs' offense rang up 57 shots on the Warriors' net. AC bested its season scoring average. The Bulldogs have scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Adrian took advantage of Rochester College's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The Bulldogs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
Adrian additionally got points from Matt Zaremba, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Justin Polischuk, who also had one goal and one assist. Adrian also had goals scored by Adam Bristol, Zachary Mackay, and Josh Hosking, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Adrian were Ted Anstett, who had two and Andre Rakas, Trevor Benaglio, Matthew O'Neill, Archie McKinnon, and Frank Crupi, who each chipped in one.
The Warriors' offense was clicking better than usual and put 27 shots on goal during the game.
Rochester was led by Dakota Olvin, who racked up one goal and one assist. Olvin scored on the power play 6:14 into the second period to make the score 4-1. A slashing penalty on Kobryn had put the Warriors on the power play. Rochester also got a goal from Doug Lindensmith as well.
The Bulldogs took out Crupi after he had made seven saves and installed Matthew Schnoes in goal, where he finished with 18 saves and the win. The Bulldogs ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Zakk Olvin recorded 49 saves for Rochester. The Warriors totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play.
