Bulldogs Fall Short to Siena Heights

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Siena Heights University Wednesday as they travelled across town for their first games since their spring trip. Adrian trailed in game one as they found themselves down 2-0 heading into the sixth inning. The Bulldogs would tie the score, but the Saints overcame this comeback with a one-run sixth inning to take Adrian down, 3-2. Adrian would start the second game fast as they gained a 1-0 after their first at bat, but the Saints would respond with six runs before Adrian could answer and the Bulldogs fell, 6-1, in five innings.

Game one saw the Bulldogs fall behind early to the Saints as Siena capitalized on a bases loaded opportunity in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Saints added to their lead in the fifth as an RBI single by Hannah Bliekamp put Siena up 2-0. Adrian would fight back in the sixth as they tied the score in the top of the inning following a two RBI single by Brooke Stewart that scored Taylor Van't Land and Rebecca Greco. Siena would take the lead for good in the bottom of the inning when a wild pitch scored a runner from third base, and the Bulldogs would surrender a 3-2 decision.

Kelsey Meyer made the start and pitched 3.1 innings while allowing one run and striking out seven. Kaitlin Lock took the decision as she pitched 2.2 innings while allowing two runs and recording five strike outs.

Adrian then came out and scored the first run of the second game as Morgan Brandt singled and Jessica Sarch scored following a Saints error. Siena would respond and slowly take control of the game as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first and added four more before the Bulldogs could respond in a 6-1 decision in five innings. Siena Heights  would commit five errors and Adrian would record five hits, but the Bulldogs could only capitalize with one run as they fell to the Saints in two games on the day and now stand a 9-5 on the season.

Brooke Stewart made the start in the circle and took the decision with two innings pitched and three runs allowed. Payge Reed took relief for 1.2 innings and allowed three runs before Kelsey Meyer finished the final out.
