Hinojosa, Meyer Power Bulldogs to Second Day Sweep

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bulldogs entered their second of play on their spring trip with matchups against Elizabethtown and Lebanon Valley. Adrian found themselves down in game one, 3-1, heading into their final at bat before Kaitlyn Hinojosa hit a three-run walk off home run to give the Bulldogs a 5-3 victory. Adrian then took game two from Lebanon Valley by breaking a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with a Kelsey Meyer home run that sparked a three-run final at bat on their way to a 5-3 victory and a 4-0 record.

Game one saw the Bulldogs take on the Elizabethtown Blue Jays. Elizabethtown scored one run in the third and fifth innings to leave Adrian behind 2-0. Adrian then cut the Blue Jay lead in half with a Karissa DeVore solo home run. Elizabethtown would then add a run in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to 3-1 with just one more at bat for the Bulldogs. Adrian began their comeback with one out when Jessica Sarch singled up the middle to score Taylor Van't Land to bring the Bulldogs within one. Kaitlyn Hinojosa then followed this with a towering home run to left center that scored Van't Land and Macy Laws to give the Bulldogs the 5-3 win in walk off fashion.

Kelsey Meyer made the start in the circle for Adrian and pitched 4.2 innings while allowing two runs and striking out two. Payge Reed (1-0) earned the decision for the Bulldogs with 2.1 innings pitched.

Game two saw Adrian take on Lebanon Valley. The Bulldogs quickly took the 2-0 following their first at bat. Jessica Sarch started the scoring when a fielding error on a Rebecca Greco stolen base allowed her to reach home from third. Lebanon Valley would fight back to tie the game with runs in the bottom of the first and the fourth to leave the score tied, 2-2, heading into the seventh innings. Kelsey Meyer then sparked a three-run seventh inning for Adrian with a solo home run to left center. The Bulldogs would add two insurance runs as Morgan Brandt singled up the middle to score Kaitlyn Hinojosa and Jessica Sarch. Adrian would hold of Lebanon Valley as they would add one more run in the bottom of the seventh, and the Bulldogs secured their 5-3 win.

Kaitlin Lock (1-0) earned the victory in the circle for Adrian with a complete game and nine strike outs.
