Bulldogs Set School Record with 15 Wins

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's tennis team set a school record for wins (15-3) on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Albion College. The Bulldogs recorded 14 wins under then head coach Adam Albertsen in 2013-14. First-year head coach Maxim Sukalo has taken the program to the next step as the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the MIAA.

The Bulldogs swept the doubles over the Britons winning each match 8-3 in the process. Michael Mertz and Joey Loselle at one doubles set the tone. Troy Gargrave and Jeff Sophiea won at two doubles. Alex Amos and Brandon Brom was victorious at three doubles.

Loselle defeated Zach McKenzie at two singles by scores of 6-2, 6-3. Mertz had an easy time at three singles with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Rahul Raj. Sophiea went the distance at four singles having lost the first set before coming back to win the second in a tiebreak and the third in a super tiebreak (5-7, 7-6, 10-1). Gargrave also had a very easy match at 6-1, 6-0 in five singles over Andrew Zimmer.
