Bulldogs Storm Past Thunder in Final Home Men's Wrestling Event of Season, 38–6

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team took to the mat at home for the second, and final, time on the season Tuesday, coming away with a definitive victory over the visiting Trine University Thunder by a score of 38–6. It looked like the Bulldogs could struggle when Trine sophomore David Moore came away with a victory in the first match of the evening. But the Bulldogs would roar back only losing one other match on their way to the victory.

Adrian freshman Trenton Roesly came out to a strong start in the 141 weight-class match, building a 4–1 lead by the midpoint of the second period, over Trine's sophomore Jeffrey Helm. But a strong second by Helm tied the match at 4. In the final period, Roesly would score a crucial takedown to give him a 6–4 lead and would then withstand some late escape attempts from Helm to end with a 7 – 5 victory.

Ty Jasman didn't even need a full period to come away with a victory over Austin Helm in the 149 weight-class bout. After amassing an early 6–2 lead, the Bulldog freshman would follow up a takedown by rolling his opponent on to his back for the definitive pin at the 2:41 mark, giving the Bulldogs a 12–3 over the Thunder.

Adrian freshman Connor McDill came out strong against Trine's Sean Jones climbing to an 11–4 lead at the end of first period of the 157 weight-class match. McDill would continue his performance in the second beginning the period with a quick escape followed by a takedown which McDill quickly used to finish the match at the 3:43 mark by pinning his opponent.

The Bulldogs' James Pace would come out on fire in a 165 weight-class match against Trine's Kerry Raab scoring a takedown followed by two devastating near-pins to amass a demanding 11-0 lead after the first period. Pace would continue his dominance in the second scoring a quick escape and then adding another near-pin hold to finish the match with a technical fall victory at the 4:40 mark.

Adrian heavyweight Josh Colegrove scored a quick takedown to start his match and then would follow up with two more to finish out the first period up by a score of 6–2 over Trine junior Joe Stasiak. Colegrove would build his lead with a quick reversal in the second followed by another takedown ending the period up 10–3. He would start the third in similar fashion scoring on another takedown. But Stasiak would make it interesting scoring on a reversal and a near-pin to close the gap to 12–8 with 30 seconds remaining in the match. Colegrove would withstand the push to go on to win with a score 13–8. The decision would conclude the dual with the Bulldogs finishing on top by 32 points – their largest margin of victory this season.

With the victory, Adrian improves to 7–2 in dual matches on the season while Trine falls to 1–13. The Bulldogs will next wrestle in the Alma Open on Saturday, January 23.
