A total of 473 student-athletes from 105 institutions were recognized for their success in the classroom while competing throughout the season.
To be eligible for NWCA Scholar All-American honors, a wrestler must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher from the previous academic year or maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above. Freshmen must have earned at least a 3.2 GPA during the fall term.
In addition to academic requirements, wrestlers must meet at least one of the following criteria: qualify for the NCAA Championships with a winning record; place in the top six at an NCAA regional while competing in at least half of the team's scheduled competitions and compiling a winning record; or win at least 67 percent of matches while competing in at least 50 percent of the team's schedule.
From the Adrian College men's wrestling team, Aiden Smith earned Scholar All-American honors. Smith, an exercise science major, recently placed eighth at the NCAA Division III National Championships in the 165-pound bracket, securing All-American status for the second consecutive season.
