FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The Adrian College men's wrestling team had three student-athletes place in the top-8 on Friday at the Nuway College Open/Mat Mayhem held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Open continues this weekend.

Freshman Angus Arthur won the 197-pound championship with a 14-6 major decision over Brody Conner of NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis. His performance on the day included a first-round bye and a 4-0 mark as the No. 10-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division III 197. In the second round, he advanced past Ricky Bruce of Heidelberg University via forfeit. Then in the quarterfinals, he pinned another D-II opponent, Central Missouri's Ben Lancaster, 1 minute and 48 seconds. He reached the Finals with a semifinal win via technical fall, 18-3, against Matt Shurina from Heidelberg University.

Classmate Brandon Harris had a terrific run at 125, going 3-1 with a third-place finish. After a first-round bye, he edged Wilkes' Dustin Zuzulock in an 8-6 decision. He advanced past the quarterfinals with a forfeit victory over Lincoln Monroe from Upper Iowa University. Fred Mase of Ithaca College, however, eked by Harris, 1-0, in the championship semifinals. But Harris bounced back in his next outing to down Reginald Lowery out of Baldwin-Wallace University by decision, 6-4.

In addition, freshman Joe Dombrowski placed seventh at 133-lbs. He went 4-2 on the day, including a heartbreaking 8-7 loss to Andrew Lieb of Lake Erie College and a 4:31 pinfall over Zach Hasselberger from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
