FREMONT, Neb.--The Adrian College American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I men's hockey team will return to Michigan with a pair of wins as the Bulldogs swept their series with the Midland Warriors with a 4-2 win on Saturday night in the Cornhusker State.
The nationally No. 10-ranked Bulldogs jumped off to an early 3-0 lead in the first period, getting goals from Cooper McLean, JP Grineau and Michael Tratar. Adrian's Justin Polischuk picked up an assist on both the McLean and trader goal while Marcel Kottek received the assist on Grineau goal.
The Bulldogs and Warriors traded goals in period number two as Blair Seitz got Midland on the scoreboard while Kottek tallied an unassisted marker to make the score 4-1 after two periods of play.
Midland's Jason Henry scored the only goal of the third period, but the Warriors could get no closer, making the final score 4-2.
Adrian goaltender Michael Barrett earned his first victory in a Bulldog uniform as the freshman turned away 20 Midland shots to backstop Adrian to the win. The Bulldogs fired to 32 shots on Warrior goalie Dakota McDonald, who made 28 saves.
The Bulldogs are now 2-0 on the young season and will return next weekend to Arrington Ice Arena for a two-game series against Stony Brook. Face-off for Friday night's contest will be 7 p.m., while Saturday's game will commence at noon.
